The relationship between mitochondrial health, telomerase activity and longitudinal telomere attrition, considering the role of chronic stress

Telomere attrition is a hallmark of biological aging, contributing to cellular replicative senescence. However, few studies have examined the determinants telomere in vivo humans. Mitochondrial Health Index (MHI), composite marker integrating mitochondrial energy-transformation capacity and content, may be one important mediator attrition, as it could impact telomerase activity, direct regulator maintenance. In this observational longitudinal study, we peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), whether MHI predicted changes activity over 9-month period, thus impacting maintenance same period time. We secondarily role chronic stress, by comparing these relationships mothers children with an autism spectrum disorder (caregivers) vs. neurotypical child (controls). Here show that both stress exposure lower independently decreases subsequent 9 months. Finally, length were directly related indirectly revealed path analysis. These results highlight potential drivers human PBMCs, through impairment production.
