The expected magnitude of phenotypic differences between human populations under genetic drift is often underestimated. This commentary challenges recent claims minimal by addressing statistical weaknesses in Lala & Feldman[1], Gusev[2][3], and Roseman Bird[4], specifically the misinterpretation polygenicity’s role drift, failure to adjust for diploidy, use non-standard effect size metrics. Using typically-reported FST values heritabilities, medium large are across major biogeographic ancestry groups. It noted that specific may also be shaped other evolutionary forces, such as convergent or divergent selection, well environmental factors. By clarifying mathematical basis differences, this comment advances discussion on variance its implications diversity.
