Phaseolus vulgaris is a warm-season crop sensitive to low temperatures, which can adversely affect its growth, yield, and market value. Exogenous growth regulators, such as diethyl aminoethyl hexanoate (DA-6), have shown potential in alleviating stress caused by adverse environmental conditions. However, the effects that DA-6 has on P. plants subjected low-temperature are not well understood. This study aimed investigate impact photosynthesis, antioxidant system, gene expression cold-tolerant (YJ009763) cold-sensitive (Baibulao) seedlings under stress. To simulate stress, were exposed 5 °C, 25 mg/L solution applied their leaves. revealed significantly enhanced photosynthetic performance of Specifically, increased chlorophyll content rates, reducing stomatal limitation enhancing carbon assimilation. It also improved efficiency boosting electron transport reaction center. The enzyme activities superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT) markedly following treatment. After 24 h showed 68.95% increase POD activity, whereas displayed 160.63% SOD activity an 85.56% CAT activity. In addition, reduced production rate anion radical generation, with 25.24% reduction 49.38% seedlings. Under exogenous could upregulate relative enzyme-related genes, PvSOD PvAPX. promoted key including PvMDHAR PvDHAR2, accelerated ascorbate-glutathione cycle mitigated oxidative application effectively alleviates capacity regulating defense system. Cold-tolerant varieties exhibited stronger response DA-6, demonstrating greater ability withstand cold These findings suggest treatment serve promising approach for improving resilience temperatures.
