Abstract The heme/Cu sulfite reductase bears a distal Cu metal coordinated to two cysteines. This enzyme catalyzes the reduction of H 2 S. Very little is known about electronic structure and reactivity this enzyme. Synthetic modelling can allow access properties active site. However, installing thiolates on porphyrin rings not adequately represented in literature. In paper, we describe synthetic methodology install multiple which be used bind second metal. addition, complexity keeping several thiols adjacent each other, work also reports unprecedented demetallation iron presence thiol functional groups vicinity.
