Contamination in coastal regions attributed to fluoride and nitrate cannot be disregarded, given the substantial environmental public health issues they present worldwide. For effective decontamination, it is pivotal identify regional pollution hotspots. This comprehensive study was performed assess spatial as well indexical water quality, contamination sources, hotspots, evaluate associated risks pertaining Al-Hassa region, KSA. The physicochemical results revealed a pervasive of overall groundwater. dominant type Na-Cl, indicating saltwater intrusion reverse ion exchange impact. Spatiotemporal variations properties suggest diverse hydrochemical mechanisms, with geogenic factors primarily influencing groundwater chemistry. index varied between 0.8426 4.7172, classifying samples moderately very highly polluted. Similarly, synthetic (in range 0.5021–4.0715) that none had excellent various degrees categories. Nitrate quotient (HQ) values indicated chronic human ranging from low severe, infants being most vulnerable. Household use nitrate-rich for showering cleaning did not pose significant risks. Fluoride HQ decreased age, children faced highest risk fluorosis. hazard (HI) yielded moderate- high-risk values. were 1.21 times higher than risks, per average HI assessment. All fell into vulnerable category based on total (THI), 88.89% classified high risk. research provides valuable insights guiding authorities, inhabitants, researchers identifying safe regions, populations. highlight need appropriate treatment techniques long-term management plans.

Water quality assessment is crucial for public and ecosystem health, yet traditional approaches often overlook the nutritional aspects of drinking water. This study introduces Drinking Nutritional Quality Index (DWNQI) to Africa, presenting its first application in continent. The research evaluated status water resources semi-urban areas Southeast Nigeria, shifting from a contaminant-focused paradigm. samples were strategically collected various sources. Five key elements (Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Mn2+, Zn2+) that play roles both human health environmental processes considered. DWNQI model revealed concerning trend, with scores ranging 9.76 78.54 (average 32.02). analysis showed 73.33% fell within "Poor" category, 13.33% "Marginal," 6.67% "Fair," "Good" categories, no reaching excellent range, indicating low trend area. Sensitivity reveal Mg2+and Ca2+ exerted most influence on studied samples. Removal Mg2+ index resulted 23.77% decrease average score, while removal led 23.42% decrease. Key recommendations include implementing targeted mineral enrichment programs developing initiatives address potential deficiencies. contributes sustainability by providing new perspective quality, potentially informing management policies guiding interventions African settings beyond.

Microplastic (MP) content in nutrition including potable water is unregulated, although MP concentrations individual brands of bottled diverge by several orders magnitude. The EU Directive 2020/2184 on consumable quality recently proposed methodological approaches to the detection MPs size range 20–5000 μm. However, fine 1–20 μm are far more likely pass human intestine into blood and organs. To evaluate impact this omission total number detected MPs, we determined down 1 ten different polyethylene terephthalate (PET) one tap sample using automated Raman microspectroscopy. We found that ranged from 19 1,154 (n/L) [0.001 0.250 μg/L], all investigated samples were stored PET containers, accounted only for a small percentage identified most samples. Importantly, 98 94% measured less than 20 10 diameter, respectively, demonstrating importance inclusion analyses regulation. current study presents protocol identify any type regardless hardness, demonstrates implementing both negative positive procedural, control measures.

Advancements in health risk assessment are vital for protecting public health. This study's objectives were to analyze the degree of nitrate contamination, multi-route risks six age groups, and potential sources water contaminants a Nigerian suburban area. Nitrate pollution index (NPI) results between −1.00 0.06, indicating low human impact. According analysis, infants ages 6 12 months more vulnerable, whereas humans 20 > 60 have lower risks. may be due fact that bodily tissues vulnerable potentially toxic contaminants. For all categories, associated with ingestion was greater than dermal contact. Varimax-rotated factor analysis five principal component extractions revealed varied from geogenic processes human-initiated activities.

Groundwater quality assessment is crucial for sustainable water resource management and public health protection. This study evaluated the Water Quality Index (WQI) of groundwater in southern part Gujarat focusing on Valsad District. this region occurs porous, unconsolidated formations fracture formations, both under table conditions confined aquifers. Various parameters including Nitrate (NO3¯), pH, Calcium (Ca2+), Electrical Conductivity (EC), Total Hardness (TH), Magnesium (Mg2+), Dissolved Solids (TDS), Potassium (K+), Sodium (Na+), Sulphate (SO42−), Chloride (Cl¯), Bicarbonate (HCO3¯), Silicate (SiO44−), Fluoride (F¯) were analyzed to assess quality. Results indicate that most fell within acceptable permissible limits drinking water, except Muli Nanaponda villages with Cl¯, EC, TDS exceeding limit. The WQI analysis revealed 31.25% samples from different found excellent category (WQI < 25). About 68.75% 16 classified as good ∼ 25–50). Overall, ranged 14.20 41.98, suggesting district suitable drinking. Piper diagram collected field indicated unique geochemical compositions water. Ca2+ was predominant cation, followed by K+, Na+, Mg2+. Among anions, HCO3− showed highest concentrations, SO42−, NO3−, Cl−. dominance pattern demonstrated weathering minerals significantly influenced groundwater. recommends remediation areas reduced address geogenic anthropogenic contamination.
