Profiling the disciplinary foundation of telework research: A journal co-citation analysis

Objective.
This
study
employed
bibliometric
analysis
to
identify
the
most
relevant
journals
in
telework
research
and
utilized
journal
co-citation
map
intellectual
foundation
of
this
field
study.
Design/Methodology/Approach.
To
conduct
study,
we
used
data
from
Scopus,
cluster
modularity
technique
communities,
gathered
centrality
measures
pinpoint
essential
journals,
chose
rank
based
on
relevance.
We
combined
two
key
achieve
this:
number
citations
received
closeness
within
network.
Results/Discussion.
Seven
communities
were
identified,
encompassing
following
subject
areas:
organizational
psychology
management,
technology
information
systems,
occupational
health
psychological
well-being,
sustainability
environment,
education
skills
development,
economics
public
policy,
sociology
cultural
studies.

is
underpinned
by
a
network

covering
different
areas

Abstract
Rather
than
being
an
indiscriminate
‘greater
leveller’,
it
is
widely
recognised
that
the
burden
of
covid‐19
pandemic
and
its
aftermath
has
largely
mirrored
longstanding
cleavages
social
spatial
disadvantage.
This
paper
considers
how
nature
effects
mass
covid‐induced
shift
to
remote
hybrid
working
can
inform
theorisations
contemporary
regional
inequalities.
Through
a
loosening
relationship
between
geography
home
employment,
in
theory,
these
novel
practices
associated
changing
residential
preferences
hold
potential
for
easing
disparities.
Drawing
predominantly
on
interviews
workshops
across
15
UK
case
study
areas,
this
analysis
however
contends
stark
divides
prevalence
remote/hybrid
mean
propagation
from
(WFH)
may
well
fact
entrench
rather
alleviate
geographical
inequalities,
as
have
improved
mainly
higher
socio‐economic
employees
who
WFH
(overrepresented
prosperous
areas)
but
remain
unchanged
majority
workforce
elsewhere
cannot
WFH.
