Purpose
Conflicts

Nature
conservation
and
sustainable
development
goals
are
challenged
by
powerful
economic
incentives
to
exploit
natural
resources,

tropical
countries.
Community-based
resource
management
(CBNRM)
projects
have
been
encouraged
worldwide
for
over
40
years

sustainability
of
nature-based
livelihoods

communities

expectations

However,
perceived
failed
meet
all
outcomes.
Expectation-performance
gaps
were
largest
such
as
reduced
illegal
logging,
income,
financial
assistance,
employment,
constancy
children's
school
attendance.
Successfully
addressing
these
will
depend
largely
on
external
factors,
government
effectiveness
controlling
logging
investments
credit
education.
While
this
other
approaches
cannot
stand
alone
achieve
goals,
sufficient
support
they
can
provide
substantial
benefits
