Abstract Despite being considered the ‘new normal’ for many workers since COVID‐19 pandemic, there is a dearth of applied research on hybrid working, especially in context inclusivity. This study uses Behaviour Change Wheel to examine barriers, which hinder, and enablers, help, support working after pandemic then identifies intervention strategies its improvement. Data included 36 open‐ended questionnaires 20 interviews from diverse (gender, sexual ethnic identities; age; job role/grade scale; caregiving responsibilities disability status) academic professional staff at large UK public university, collected May–July 2022. Barriers lack technological skills, clarity application policy, childcare travel issues, no suitable space equipment, managers' understanding specific needs, feeling lonely isolated, fears uncertainty. Enablers self‐management purposeful office days, positive feelings, work/life balance, productivity others. Issues related equity inclusivity were highlighted based status, responsibilities, age role. This paper provides evidence of the trends in emotional wellbeing university staff during COVID-19 pandemic, with a focus on differences according to age, gender and ethnicity. From June 2020 July 2021 survey was circulated University College London staff, capturing information self-described demographic indicators (age, gender, ethnicity), satisfaction academic life, mental wellbeing. Results show moderate level overall, scores increasing after lockdowns were lifted. Some significant heterogeneity within variables demonstrates need for disaggregating categories Black Minority Ethnic individuals. Caribbean African reported higher levels (respectively, 0.60 0.81 scores, average) while who identified as Arab or “other” lower (on average −1.0 −0.65) than White. The COVID-19 pandemic generated unprecedented challenges for educators world-wide. University teaching staff were forced to rapidly adapt virtual classrooms during lockdown and the return campus has seen continuing flux. Poor student mental wellbeing is a major concern although nascent digital health interventions can increase reach augment in-person services, research on effectiveness of still in its infancy. implementation hybrid solutions challenging due complexity diversity institutions; however, important lessons be learned from switch online integration technologies transition process. This paper explores experiences through using interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA). Semi-structured interviews conducted with three academics English universities. This study analyses the impact of an intervention, based on four LGBTIQA+ teachers' life stories. A pretest–posttest quasi-experimental design was used, with no control group. total 75 students participated in pretest and 52 posttest. The quantitative results showed statistically significant differences between posttest (t = 2.86, p < .01). effect size intervention moderate, a Hedges' g value 0.51. qualitative perceptions Master's Degree Secondary Education Teacher Training regarding facilitators (empowerment processes) barriers faced by teachers educational setting.
