Overweight and obesity are global health concerns, especially significant for older adults at higher risk chronic diseases. The transition to retirement, altering daily routines, highlights the need adequate weight management support. Since is a challenging topic in healthcare socioeconomic inequalities exist access utilization, we examined how retired individuals with low or high education describe their experiences of unmet needs, mismatches, successes within service system management. This qualitative interview study part Helsinki Health Study. participants (N = 20, body mass index least 30 kg/m2) were selected from cohort former employees City Helsinki. Half interviewees had education, other half education. Women men equally represented. interviews conducted 2023 data analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. Three main themes formed: Deficiencies engaged care, Services mismatched Facilitating conditions individual successes. first theme two sub-themes: Condescending attitude Ignoring during appointment. second one sub-theme: Inadequate personnel resources. third Individual opportunities acquire information treatment. Educational differences most clearly reflected sub-themes. Participants more often described experiencing condescending towards them when seeking care difficulties obtaining time appointments due inadequate broader related treatment than this highlighted importance respectful engagement subject felt that these kinds interaction skills should still be developed personnel. articulated approaches tailored unique circumstances.
