Vicarious resilience refers to the positive effects that a service provider experiences through witnessing healing, recovery, and of people they serve. This study used sample 804 victim providers (VSPs) across Canada who completed Resilience Scale (VRS) answered closed-ended survey question about why chose work or volunteer in field. Results show VSPs entered field because have previous experience victimization had significantly higher VRS scores than their counterparts for any other reason (p < .001). It appears growth vicarious may be spurred by own process parallel modeled on concepts "wounded healers" posttraumatic growth. furthers our understanding factors affect resilience. Implications training supervision recommendations future studies, are discussed.
