These findings underscore importance holistic approach human–animal bond research.

However, none bond domains examined this moderated association outcomes. Exploratory analyses indicated pet-related love emotion regulation most strongly correlated suggesting emotional reliance may overlap mechanisms driving No significant associations emerged for co-use. These findings suggest that, while can provide support, it also be such as use; therefore, further research is needed to explore these dynamics context diverse populations, adults. recommendations how veterinarians, practitioners, other professionals support informed safer helps safeguard health well-being

Although many companion animal (or “pet”) owners report that their relationships with pets are important, we know little about how ownership duration and life stage related to relationship quality. In a sample of 1303 dog cat owners, the present research explored associations between duration, pet (puppy/kitten, young adult, mature senior), four markers quality: pet-related self-expansion, perceived responsiveness, insensitivity, human–animal bond. We found was negatively linearly associated self-expansion for both owners. Results comparing quality across stages revealed higher younger animals compared older animals. There were no significant effects or bond based on stage. These findings indicate one’s have implications much people feel helps them grow, whereas other human–pet likely vary experiences.
