Play is an active process by which individual intrinsically motivated to explore the self, environment, and/or interactions with another person. For infants and toddlers, engaging in play essential support development across multiple domains. Infants toddlers or at risk of motor delays may demonstrate differences challenges activities compared typically developing peers. Pediatric physical therapists often use as a modality engage children therapeutic assessment interventions. Careful consideration design therapy that embeds needed. Following 3-day consensus conference review literature, we propose should consider three components; child, family. First, child respecting child’s behavioral state following lead during play, respect autonomous initiatives engagements, developmental domains, adapt needs. Second, structure environment including toy selection using independent movements means play. Allow initiate sustain activities. Third, families family cultures related while also providing information on value tool for learning. Partner individualized routine scaffolds advances newly emerging skills.
