ABSTRACT Aim To explore how Early Career Nurses perceive their preparedness for nursing practice, the teaching and learning experiences, role of professional experience placements on development. Design A qualitative study using a hermeneutic phenomenological approach. Method The involved 25 who participated in follow‐up interviews 4 years post‐graduation Australia between 2022 2024. Data were collected through semi‐structured analysed Thematic Analysis. Results Three key themes emerged: gaps preparedness, power being embedded too many balls to juggle. Participants indicated mixed sense with significant clinical skills. They emphasised critical mentorship bridge gap theoretical knowledge practical application. Placements opportunities considered essential develop confidence competence effective practice. Conclusion highlights necessity curricula address skills, particularly surgical emergency nursing. By incorporating more simulation‐based learning, interprofessional education robust programmes, can better prepare graduates realities These enhancements will help ease transition from academic training reducing reality shock fostering confident, competent resilient workforce.
