The last two decades have seen an increase in the intensity and frequency of extreme weather events, placing complex demands on police emergency services UK. Despite growing recognition cascading multidimensional threats, there is limited understanding how policing local governance actors are preparing for climate crisis. In this paper, we argue that polycentric approaches, such as Local Resilience Forums (LRFs), provide essential focal point planning disaster response activity rooted localised contexts. However, while LRFs designed to benefit from inclusion a broad range actors, dominant mentalities, knowledge hierarchies powerful may limit their epistemic potential. We propose pathway towards resilient adaptive agenda Anthropocene necessitates acknowledging limits knowledge, expertise traditional command-and-control mentalities. draw notion epistocracy policy research partner agencies harness potential LRFs. By adopting approaches leverage pluralised forms identifying strategies co-opting community-based activities, can strengthen capacity-building better promote resilience adaptation efforts.
