Since the inception of short video platform, interaction details between social network and creators continue to require further exploration. This study explores determinants that influence short-form creators' platform selection in China, leveraging extended UTAUT model. Conducting a survey method (N = 468), comprehensive questionnaire identified facilitating condition (FC) effort expectancy (EE) as key factors, ATU was confirmed mediating variable whereas SSNM moderating variable, challenging presumed dominance networks their popularity. The extends model context platforms contributes discourse on digital content creation by highlighting critical interplay technology, influence, user engagement, offering strategic insights for innovation creator engagement. The current research investigates the determinants of information avoidance in use mobile social applications (apps) from a comparison perspective. It specifically examines how cognitive dissonance, emotional exhaustion, and gender differences shape process, ultimately leading to avoidance. An online survey with 458 app users was conducted collect data. Structural equation modeling partial least squares (PLS-SEM) employed empirically test our proposed model. findings indicate that serves as significant source dissonance which turn lead within apps. Furthermore, positively moderate relationship between effect being stronger for women than men. This study enhances understanding through lens by examining both dimensions. Additionally, it analyzes comparison, providing more comprehensive view men engage are affected processes.

This study examines news avoidance behaviors in Egypt’s media system, addressing a significant gap understanding how audiences disengage from content non-Western contexts. Using mixed-methods approach combining focus groups (n = 16), surveys 512), and expert interviews 4), we investigate the relationships between overload, trust formal media, selective attention shaping behaviors. Our structural equation model demonstrates strong explanatory power (R2 0.505), with overload emerging as strongest predictor of (β 0.481). Trust −0.265) −0.184) show negative avoidance. Qualitative findings reveal system creates unique conditions for avoidance, developing sophisticated strategies managing information flow within an environment state control. The advances theoretical by demonstrating Media Saturation Theory operates authoritarian contexts while providing practical insights organizations operating under suggest that systems represents not simply audience disengagement but rather complex adaptation to specific institutional social conditions.

Drawing on the stressor–strain–outcome (SSO) framework, this study examined how information-related stressors (perceived information overload, quality deterioration, and narrowing) privacy-related stressor privacy risk) in using news platforms' recommendation algorithms trigger users' psychological reactance, which leads to their active coping, expressive or avoidance coping with stress such algorithms. Using a sample of 352 valid research responses, found that reactance is positively influenced by perceived followed overload risk. Meanwhile, narrowing has no significant impact reactance. In turn, exerts stronger responses than response. This enriches literature algorithm usage at individual level provides practical insights for providers platforms have applied

In the digital age, human-algorithm interaction has become ubiquitous. The popularity of short-form video apps led to greater access and experience with algorithmic recommender systems, but it also exposed their potential problems dark sides. However, there is still limited knowledge about side over-recommendation from perspective user perception, especially regarding negative impact on users' psychology behavior. Drawing social cognitive theory, this study constructed a theoretical model investigate how information environment factors influence dissonance discontinuance intention under antecedent dimension perceived over-recommendation. was tested using partial least squares structural equation modeling 322 valid questionnaires users Chinse mass short (eg, Douyin). results showed that when over-recommendation, narrowing, redundancy, overload, privacy invasion significantly increased dissonance, ultimately leading intention. Notably, fully mediated relationship between intention, self-efficacy did not play significant moderating role. Additionally, local path effects varied across groups different characteristics. To maintain sustainability platforms, crucial explore moderate recommendation mechanisms. User-centered functionality improvements differentiated behavioral interventions can help mitigate among users.
