The metaverse represents a post-reality universe that seamlessly merges physical reality with digital virtuality. It provides continuous and immersive social networking environment, enabling multi-user engagement interaction through Extended Reality (XR) technologies, which include Virtual (VR), Augmented (AR), Mixed (MR). As novel solution distinct from traditional methods such as mobile-based applications, the technical affordance of XR technologies in shaping experiences remains complex, multifaceted, multivariate issue has not yet been thoroughly explored. Additionally, there is notable absence mature frameworks guidelines for designing developing these socio-technical systems. Enhancing significant research challenge. This systematic review aims to address this gap by establishing an analytical framework guided PRISMA protocol. analyzes 88 studies various disciplines, including computer science, psychology, arts, define mechanisms effectiveness engagement. Quantitative descriptive statistics, correlation text mining are used examine manifestation mechanisms, potential system factors, their effectiveness. Meanwhile, qualitative case identify specific measures factors enhance study pioneering theoretical offers practical insights cross-spatiotemporal co-present activities metaverse. also promotes critical reflection on evolving relationship between humans emerging universe.
