disorders
(FEDs)
are

heterogeneous
grouping
of

research
has
identified
numerous
interpersonal
and

risk
factors
for

signs
of
emerging
eating
disorders
in
adolescents.

findings
have
informed
public
health
prevention

clinical
recommendations

care
providers
(PCPs).

PCPs
are

Abstract
Background
Historically,
eating
disorder
(ED)
research
has
largely
focused
on
White
girls
and
women,
with
minority
ethnic
populations
underrepresented.
Most
exploring
EDs
in

review,

kind,
was
to
systematically

Canada,

ABSTRACT
Objective
Since
its
publication
almost
35
years
ago,
the
Eating
Disorder
Examination
(EDE)
and
companion
paper‐and‐pencil
self‐report—the
Examination‐Questionnaire
(EDE‐Q)—have
remained
some
of
most
widely
used
studied
tools
for
assessment
eating
disorder
symptoms.
Widespread
use
EDE
has
persisted
despite
notable
limitations
measure,
while
other
developed
in
decades
since
have
been
inconsistently
adopted,
both
which
may
consequences

invited
to
speak

the
Canadian
Nutrition
Society's
Thematic
Conference
2023,
which

advances

disordered
eating
disorders.
Presenters
emphasized
importance
understanding
how
systemic
factors
such
as
racism,
weight
stigma,
COVID-19
affect
disorders,
proposed
strategies
for
addressing
these
inequities.

we
provide
actionable
recommendations
working
with
individuals
disorders;
professional
development,
cultural
competence,
equitable
practices

discussed.
