Narratives of progress have circulated around women's sport in recent times, as reflected the growing numbers women sports participants, increased media visibility and movements towards pay parity for professional sportswomen. As part a wider project exploring children's sporting identities, 147 children were asked via focus groups (21) about their views on perceived sport, with data analysed to see how these ideas might be underpinned by feminist perspectives. Using reflexive thematic analysis, constructed themes comprised (1) equity, (2) visibility, (3) girl fandom (4) continuum boys’ views. Overall, are overwhelmingly positive sport. Feminist frameworks presented discussions equity resources linked liberal feminism, typically associated popular feminism. The dominance of neoliberal paradigms and sport science in Health Physical Education (HPE) often prioritises measurable outcomes over holistic wellbeing. This study responds to these limitations reimagines HPE mainland China by integrating culturally inspired experiences into an experimental educational initiative the form two workshops, conducted a higher education environment. These workshops aimed test whether incorporating traditional Chinese cultural elements, such as Kunqu Opera classical aesthetics, could offer alternative current performance-driven, sport-centered model. Children’s accounts of parental influence on leisure choices DOI

This paper explores how children experience parental influence on their leisure time, or the time that they spend outside of schooling, including both organised and casual activities. Twenty-one focus groups were conducted with (n = 147) aged 10–12, derived from seven primary schools in Ireland. Children discussed hobbies, free pursuits, sporting activities digital media use, elaborated parents' interventions this regard. Utilising a childhood studies approach within Bourdieusian framework, findings indicate salience Irish culture particular gender as differentiating factors terms children's choices.
