Purpose This impact pathways paper identifies drivers and barriers for digital product passport (DPP) applications in electronics supply chains to derive future research pathways. Design/methodology/approach Around39 interviews were conducted with three Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) their suppliers, customers, recycling partners, DPP service providers an international standards organisation. Findings The results show the four key adoption: improved decision-making transition towards a circular economy, ensuring regulatory compliance, improving transparency across chain enhancing customer engagement. Four main exist: developing communicating business case adoption, increased need data, data interoperability between systems, extent of implementation effort needed security integrity. Originality/value is one earliest papers concisely summarise adoption present comprehensive agenda operations management.

Abstract Blockchain technology is a digital decentralized data ledger recording transactions in an encrypted format. Its implementation can potentially hold significant advantages for the built environment, particularly manufacturing and building product usage aligned with Building Information Modeling (BIM). This paradigm shift toward foster security, reliability, accountability. Hyperledger Fabric (HLF), enterprise‐grade distributed ledger, offers modular, scalable, confidential framework. article introduces HLF‐based workflows to address inefficiencies BIM fastener lifecycle management, such as fragmented handling limited process automation. Leveraging chaincodes linked models, HLF simplifies, enhances transparency, automates construction processes. Contract execution details are managed through blockchain stored common environment (CDE) chaincodes. The presents conceptualization of automated workflows, emphasizing efficiency transparency. While showcasing successful deployments, it also highlights areas future improvement development. proposed framework represents pioneering step cooperative industry, aligning transformative potential technology.

Abstract Digital product passports (DPPs) are an emerging digital technology that advances the circular economy (CE) by facilitating inter‐organizational data sharing and life‐cycle management of products. This paper investigates DPP value ecosystems, articulated through e 3 ‐value modeling language, to address research question: How model ecosystem as boundary objects identifying analyzing relevant actors, their needs, connections between them? Utilizing a systematic literature review, secondary collection from active instances, gray literature, we construct comprehensive model. The delineates interactions flows among key stakeholders, including manufacturers, suppliers, consumers, end‐of‐life regulatory authorities. A specific application is demonstrated battery passport, mandated EU Battery Regulation. findings suggest DPPs enhance transparency, compliance, sustainable practices providing detailed lifecycle data. study underlines necessity for clear data‐sharing guidelines highlights multifaceted roles in supporting CE.
