European Biometric Borders and (Im)Mobilities in West Africa: Reflections on Migrant Strategies for Border Circumvention and Subversion

ABSTRACT This article argues that the European biometric ID installations and securitization practices at West African borders harm migrants compromise security goals of Europe Africa. Using Niger's experience, I contend migrants' poor adaption to border processes is closely connected their identity conflicts, as well atomization weakening social integration. Reproducing and reformulating categories of skill in regional and global migration governance: evidence from India and Bangladesh

Approximately one-third of the world's 169 million migrant workers come from Asia and Pacific region, primarily working in temporary, low-wage jobs Gulf, where they face human labor rights issues. The external dimension of EU migration policy as region-building? Refugee cooperation as contentious politics

The EU has drawn on its migration policy in the Middle East and North Africa as a method of region-building set to reconfigure broader Mediterranean Neighborhood. At same time, initiative had contentious, albeit understudied, effects. We know little about either variation states' responses or contextual dynamics motives pushing them challenge vector for regulating regions 'from beyond'. Through the Looking-Glass: The IOM Recasting the Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration Narrative at the UN and in West Africa

The stated aim of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) is to facilitate 'safe, orderly and regular migration'. Yet, plain meaning alone fails reveal who shaping this formative narrative. International Organisation (IOM) has played a crucial role in preparatory phase GCM coordinating its implementation. Invented, invited and instrumentalised spaces: conceptualising non-state actor engagement in regional migration governance in West Africa
