Introduction. Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) is increasingly crucial for addressing societal challenges promoting sustainable economic growth. While RRI principles have been institutionalized in Europe, gender equality (GE) within this framework remains underexplored. GE policy the European Union (EU), rooted mainstreaming since 1999, addresses socially constructed roles shaped by intersecting factors like race class. Recognized as a human right vital development, enhances participation, eliminates barriers, integrates perspectives into research. This study examines integration of to address gap. Method. A two level bibliometric analysis was conducted using Scopus Web Science (WoS) databases, focusing on English-language, open-access articles published between 1985 2024. Following application exclusion criteria, total 2134 documents were analyzed, comprising 2045 Phase 1 89 2. Analysis. The revealed significant underrepresentation discourse. Despite growing interest RRI, there lack meta-analytical studies GE, with research predominantly broader aspects RRI. Results. From only explicitly addressed context. Co-occurrence networks identified four primary clusters emphasizing sustainability, governance, education ethics. related keywords formed smaller, peripheral clusters, indicating marginal representation. findings underscore systemic framework. Conclusions. highlights critical need prioritize agenda embedding it across all its dimensions. Addressing gap will enhance inclusivity, relevance, ethical alignment initiatives. Policymakers institutional leaders must champion foundational element advance equitable innovation.
