Road-deposited sediments (RDS) from 28 sites in Beijing were studied and analyzed for eight heavy metals. In RDS, the levels of Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Cd, Pb V 2.76, 1.11, 2.40, 1.65, 1.09, 6.52, 4.13 0.06 times background values, respectively. The rated accordance with geoaccumulation index (Igeo) as follows: Cd>Pb>Zn>Cu>Cr>Ni>As>V. four functional zones, potential ecological risk method showed that most metals have environmental values (Eri) less than 40, but multifactor value (RI) transportation area exceeded 150. Four areas had Cd greater 160, exhibiting highest risk. human health assessment revealed exposure pathways followed this decreasing order: ingestion > dermal inhalation. Three DOM fractions resolved including terrestrial fulvic-acid-like (C1), humic-acid-like (C2), tryptophan-like (C3), affected by both exogenous endogenous sources. A positive correlation existed between Ni Cu zone, other zones was not apparent. conclusion, different concentration characteristics DOM, there a strong features.
