This research is focused on the adsorption modification of detonation nanodiamond surfaces with antibiotics for their further use as smart materials cardiovascular surgery purposes, namely bioprostheses modifiers. Tritium-labeled amikacin and levofloxacin were used tracers process control. We found that nanodiamonds form complexes via physical adsorption, while in case amikacin, electrostatic attraction contributes to formation more stable complexes, even presence electrolytes desorbing agents (models biological fluids). Antimicrobial characterization nanodiamond–levofloxacin nanodiamond–amikacin indicates a reduction dose an antimicrobial agent. Therefore, biomaterial based DND basis will allow one either avoid or significantly reduce duration intensity postoperative period, which critically important from viewpoint development antibiotic resistance pathogens.

Gene therapeutics are promising for treating diseases at the genetic level, with some already validated clinical use. Recently, nanostructures have emerged targeted delivery of material. Nanomaterials, exhibiting advantageous properties such as a high surface-to-volume ratio, biocompatibility, facile functionalization, substantial loading capacity, and tunable physicochemical characteristics, recognized non-viral vectors in gene therapy applications. Despite progress, current exhibit notably low efficiency. Progress nanotechnology is essential to overcome extracellular intracellular barriers delivery. Specific carbon nanotubes (CNTs), quantum dots (CQDs), nanodiamonds (NDs), similar carbon-based structures can accommodate diverse materials plasmid DNA (pDNA), messenger RNA (mRNA), small interference (siRNA), micro (miRNA), antisense oligonucleotides (AONs).
