Abstract This study investigates how digitized surveillance technologies impact teacher-student relationships in a blended learning environment at UAE university. Using semi-structured faculty interviews, it examines the effects of tools such as plagiarism detection, class recordings, and analytics on trust engagement. The findings reveal tensions between institutional goals academic integrity active participation unintended consequences fostering performative behaviours eroding relational trust. Teachers report that mechanisms promote compliance over genuine learning, reshaping their roles interactions with students. Despite these challenges, educators employ strategies resistance, prioritising human connection pedagogy to counteract dehumanising constant monitoring. contributes postdigital scholarship by exploring complex entanglements technology, pedagogy, trust, emphasising need for critical human-centred approaches digital education.
