ABSTRACT Siblings of individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions (NDCs) are at increased genetic and environmental risk for poorer psychosocial neurocognitive outcomes compared to control groups siblings without NDCs. This narrative review presents findings date on NDC sibling wellbeing, focusing the objective cognitive functioning persons a range The transdiagnostic individual‐level resilience factors impacting siblings, their associations mental health, can be modelled interpreted holistically within novel neurobiopsychosocial framework wellbeing. Enriched by community consultation, Sibling Project was first exploration self‐reported influencing health cross‐sectionally over time, adopting dynamic bioecological approach identify salient targets intervention pathways future research.

Siblings of individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions (NDCs) have greater incidence neuropsychiatric diagnoses and neurocognitive difficulties compared to siblings persons without NDCs. Despite suicidality being labelled a global health crisis (WHO, 2014) NDC experiencing risk factors implicated in suicidality, no previous studies examined amongst adolescent young adult Our study aimed bridge this gap.The present used Bayesian analyses classification models examine individual environmental associated suicidal thoughts behaviours NDCs (n = 267; 132 NDC, 135 control group, mean age 20.61, range 14-27, 76.40% female, 76.78% White Caucasian), as measured using self-report survey data remote self-administered cognitive tests.NDC had higher rates current nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI; 18.94% versus 14.07%, δ -0.32), ideation (25.76% 8.89%, -0.40) history suicide attempts (18.18% 4.44%, -0.43) controls. Classification boosting random forest demonstrated adequate performance: positive predictive value 0.86-0.91, negative 0.81-0.90, false 0.11-0.24. Cognitive inflexibility, alexithymia, inattention, bullying, depression, NSSI, eating or psychotic disorder the highest relative importance predicting lifetime suicidality. Poorer executive functioning (measured by Wisconsin Card Sorting Task, Sustained Attention Response Stop Signal N-Back 2-back task) was strongly correlated suicidality.Screening for proximal modifiable is critical inform behaviour intervention prevention programs at-risk siblings.
