Plastic pollution has become one of the major environmental problems facing human beings in world today. waste accumulated environment forms plastic particles different sizes due to farming activities, climate change, ultraviolet light, microbial degradation, and animal chewing. The caused by microplastics a problem recent years, it is also research hotspot field ecological environment. More more studies have found that ruminants are exposed for long time, which seriously threaten their healthy growth. This paper introduces current situation pollution; properties effects on environment, beings, animals; summarizes types toxicity mechanisms microplastics; concludes main ways enter harm them. In addition, shortcomings future development summarized prospected provide theoretical reference related alleviating influence ruminant production.

Microplastics (MPs) have emerged as a significant environmental threat, infiltrating livestock systems. This study presents the first in vitro investigation of effects low-density polyethylene (LDPE) MP contamination on rumen fermentation dynamics and feed utilization simulated ruminal digestive system. Concentrate was incubated buffered fluid collected from lambs, supplemented with LDPE MPs at concentrations 3.3 g/L 6.6 compared to concentrate without contamination. The results demonstrate that both levels significantly altered by reducing asymptotic gas production 11% 15% increasing constant rate 16% 19% low high addition levels, respectively, control. However, early-stage remained unaffected. Furthermore, reduced protozoal populations (20% 23%) ammonia-nitrogen levels. Despite these disruptions, pH Increasing level did not exacerbate disruptions. this highlight potential risks posed nutrition. Further vivo investigations are essential validate findings assess their impact animal performance.
