Abstract Salivary metabolomics represents a powerful noninvasive approach for diagnosing, monitoring, and managing oral diseases, providing valuable insights into the metabolic alterations associated with conditions such as cancer, precancerous lesions, periodontal dental caries. Through comprehensive analysis of salivary metabolites, this methodology facilitates identification disease-specific biomarkers reflective underlying pathophysiological processes, including inflammation, microbial dysbiosis, reprogramming. Despite its promising clinical potential, several significant challenges remain, notably difficulty in establishing direct associations between specific metabolites distinct disease mechanisms, considerable inter-individual variability, inherent complexity microenvironment. Furthermore, issues related to data interpretation complexity, technological constraints, necessity rigorous validation continue impede broader adoption. Nevertheless, ongoing advancements analytical technologies bioinformatics approaches hold promise addressing these limitations, positioning transformative tool precision diagnosis personalized treatment health care.
