Latent profile analysis of parental burnout among parents of children with and without autism spectrum disorder

Background Parental burnout is an emerging global focus on parental mental health and parenting practices. However, among parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in China remains largely unexplored. Objective This study aimed to identify differences severity patterns between Chinese raising without ASD, while exploring key sociodemographic factors contributing these disparities. Methods In total, 1,048 (including 487 ASD) were recruited take part online survey. The participants completed the version Brief Burnout Assessment Demographic Questionnaire. For data analysis, Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) was employed distinct profiles, followed by multivariate logistic regression examine association profile membership. Results LPA revealed classification two groups: ASD demonstrated three subgroups (Low, Medium, High profiles), exhibited only Medium profiles). Multivariate analysis found that mothers, or more children, younger severe associated high profiles. Conclusion Parents likely experience higher levels burnout. It highlights urgency for targeted interventions different having ASD.
