Enhancing
stakeholder
acceptance

marine
protected
areas
(MPAs)
is
key
to
fulfilling
the

MPAs
not
merely
as
management
interventions,
but
also
social-ecological
systems
(SESs),

effectiveness

Introduction
Despite
China’s
devotion
to
marine
biodiversity
by
conserving
12.98%
of
its
seas,
recent
years
saw
the
more
flattened
growth
protected
area
(MPA)
establishment.
Understanding
establishment
mechanisms
MPAs
is
crucial
for
protecting
wildlife
and
achieving
balanced
conservation
development.
However,
traditional
linear
or
generalized
models
are
insufficient
capture
complex
nonlinear
effects
between
ecosystems
society.
Methods
Adapting
social-ecological
system
(SES)
framework,
from
perspective
public
goods
decision-making,
this
paper
uses
overdispersion-robust
Poisson
pseudo-maximum
likelihood
(PPML)
regressions
with
high-dimensional
fixed
study
distribution
pattern
factors
influencing
MPA
in
49
Chinese
coastal
cities
that
built
during
1998-2020.
It
also
developed
a
mathematically
based
algorithm
locate
thresholds
where
change.
Results
show
GDP
over
¥55
billion
(1998-based,
