Artificial Intelligence (AI) and academic essay writing merge to create a transformative intersection in education, each reciprocally refining reforming the other. AI, through its innovative technologies flexible learning strategies, elevates by offering dynamic, interactive settings, personalized educational journeys. This study aimed explore students' perceptions of AI usage using case design. It involved 245 undergraduate students from 25 tertiary institutions Eastern Central Indonesian provinces, with data collected via Google form gain insights into attitudes toward tools essays. Findings indicated positive reception AI-powered tools, acknowledging their benefits grammar checks, plagiarism detection, language translation, outlines. was found enhance abilities, self-efficacy, understanding integrity. This study aimed to provide an in-depth understanding of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students' perceptions concerning both the benefits and limitations Artificial Intelligence (AI) in context critical thinking. Utilizing qualitative research design that focuses on case studies employs semi-structured interviews, seven master's degree students from two different Indonesian universities were purposively selected for sample. The findings revealed complex view thinking involves questioning norms, analyzing context, evaluating evidence. Students acknowledged AI's utility enriching various facets thinking, such academic theory scrutiny. However, concerns also raised about limitations, including lack personalization, potential echo chambers, difficulties nuanced understanding. concludes AI can be asset development skills, but with caveats require careful management. A balanced approach capitalizes strengths while being aware its is necessary cultivating robust abilities among EFL students. The field of computer-assisted language learning has recently brought about a notable change in English as Foreign Language (EFL) writing. Starting from October 2022, students across different academic fields have increasingly depended on ChatGPT-4 helpful resource for addressing particular challenges EFL This study aimed to investigate the use and acceptance students’ To this end, an experiment was conducted with 76 undergraduate private school Algeria. participants were randomly allocated into two groups: experimental group (n = 37) control 39).
