Most recent university campuses follow the North American model, built on city limits or countryside, with large separate buildings in open green spaces. Studies suggest that prevalence and severity of mental health issues among students has been increasing over past decade most countries. University services were created to face this growing problem, however individual-based interventions have limited effects well-being a population. Our aim was verify if how natural environment is focused programs cope issue students. A systematic review literature undertaken search Scopus LILACS keywords “green areas” AND “well-being” “Campus”, following PRISMA guidelines. As result, 32 articles selected. Research topic recent, mostly USA, Bulgaria, China. studies used objective information campuses’ greenness and/or students’ perception. Mental usually measured by validated scores. Findings all indicated positive association between campus greenery We conclude there potential for use as sites restoration stress relief.

Background. Students often face high levels of mental distress, which can adversely affect their academic performance and overall wellbeing. While forest bathing, as a nature-based solution (NBS), has recognized benefits for wellbeing, its specific impact on undergraduate students remains understudied. Purpose. This research brief aims to present the insights lessons learned from pilot study utilizing five-step bathing protocol applied higher education students. Method. A semester-long intervention was conducted in natural urban parks São José dos Campos, Paulo, Brazil. Thirty-six newly enrolled university participated three NBS sessions, with data collected before after each using Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale. The interventions were spaced approximately one month apart. For paired comparison between repeated measurements, one-tailed tests used based Student’s t-test, significance set at p < 0.05. Results: had significant substantial effects reducing anxiety (48.4%, dCohen = 0.415), depression (35.4%, 0.431), stress (33.5%, 0.479) participants, particularly visiting degree naturalness. Insights Lessons Learned. highlighted critical role naturalness effectiveness interventions. Parks more elements provided greater reductions supporting theories such attention restoration theory. Additionally, findings suggest that integrating programs into settings significantly enhance student wellbeing emotional stability. nuanced responses different environmental underscore need well-designed green spaces environments. These inform design implementation within universities, contributing improved health outcomes
