The reintroduction of natural components into the urban environment has several benefits for adaptation environments. green infrastructure (UGI) approach makes it possible to develop greening programs on a sound scientific basis and in connection with ability provide ecosystem services. However, practice, UGI are almost exclusively based concept continuous network, which requires large-scale interventions such as corridors parks. This severely limits extension dense areas historic centers. article introduces fragments proposes an integrative support greater spatial flexibility UGI. By setting appropriate number proximity fragments, resulting system keeps functional connectivity despite being physically discontinuous. proposed was tested case study historical center Milan, leading proposal integrations regarding identification mapping existing planning its future extension.

The potential of ecotourism to support visitor health and biodiversity conservation is becoming more widely acknowledged. With an emphasis on the significance protection, this study investigates how affects visitors’ physical emotional among tourists, with a specific focus biomechanical aspects movement activity in natural environments. Data were collected from 685 tourists who engaged activities at sites significant biodiversity. Structured questionnaires used measure self-reported indicators, such as mental well-being, levels, stress reduction, social bonding, awareness. Descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, t-tests, multiple regression analysis, analysis variance (ANOVA) analyze. evaluate relationships between exposure outcomes. While correlation analyzes degree linear connection factors, descriptive statistics highlight important data. ANOVA t-tests are group means; handles maximum three groups, while concentrate two. To forecast results, examines several independent factors affect one dependent variable. data Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26 investigate connections findings showed strong positive relationship gains health, underscoring double advantages raising awareness enhancing well-being. Additionally, underscores importance efficiency exertion, which enhanced through like hiking, kayaking, wildlife observation settings. These not only promote fitness but also contribute by reducing improving mood immersive experiences nature. results crucial it renewable travel industry that promotes preservation personal integrating principles optimize

In the biodiversity and climate emergency, a holistic approach is needed for development of smart cities. This perspective paper proposed novel conceptual framework nature-positive cities in socio-technical-ecological system (STES), which bridged gap between technological advancement ecological principles within existing city approach, enabling to transition towards biodiversity-led paradigm. Based on recent literature cities, this combines with capabilities Nature 4.0, using tools such as AI, sensors, IoT, big data analytics, machine learning. The shows that green spaces have already been developed worldwide; therefore, education personnel working local government effectively use new technology. presents examples how technologies can be utilised urban maximise ecosystem services biodiversity. Finally, it provides recommendations areas future research, concluding call specific policy interventions facilitate

Abstract Context Urban green infrastructure (GI) multifunctionality is widely valued within the academic literature, and underpins calls from policy makers to enhance expand GI resources. However, there a gap in understanding concerning how connectivity size influence outcomes. Objectives The objectives are to: (1) present current status of research on urban (encompassing ecosystem services disservices) traits size; (2) identify relationships between these topics literature; (3) provide insights actionable planning recommendations based findings research. Methods A systematic review 139 sources (2010–2023) was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. Results Key include that themes more commonly considered exploring across boundaries than them, where wider range flows functions associated (and enabled. Also, predominantly focuses multiple large sites, with limited attention single small sites found dense areas. Conclusions Greater consideration needed manipulation outcomes, whilst also recognising threat disservices emerging as result such actions. Through uncovering gaps issues, highlighting benefiting stronger foundations, this can support policy, practice realising outcomes settings, minimising disservices.

Urbanization has significantly impacted the environment and urban life, with green spaces playing a crucial role in enhancing sustainability public health. Urban Green Spaces (UGS) offer benefits such as temperature regulation, ecological services, improved thermal comfort, while providing entertainment, culture, disaster avoidance, services. This study evaluates cooling effects of UGS mitigating Heat Islands (UHIs) phenomenon Delhi, India, using satellite imagery to assess Land Surface Temperature (LST) 24 parks. We calculated Park Cooling Intensity (PCI) by applying mono-window algorithm. found that parks larger than 1.55 hectares dense vegetation water bodies reduced surrounding temperatures up 8.28 °C. The PCI effect was influenced park size, density, presence bodies, denser demonstrating enhanced capacity. These findings highlight importance integrating into planning vital infrastructure for resilience, reducing heat-related health risks, ensuring equitable access benefits. also highlights addressing socio-economic disparities accessibility, which have significant implications development. emphasized formulating strategic approach focuses on spaces' growth, conservation, allocation, thereby fostering eco-friendly, habitable, robust environments.

Along with the rapid development of urbanization and industrialization, carrying capacity territorial space has been confronted a serious crisis. Faced many uncertain risks unknown disruptions, it is important to proactively address uncertainty future developments in planning improve spatial resilience (TSR). Based on connotation TSR, we build an assessment framework for TSR containing urban, agricultural ecological from three dimensions, including element, structure function. Using variety methods such as source-sink landscape index, land suitability assessment, cropland pressure assessed Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) 2000 2020 comprehensively analysed its temporal evolutionary characteristics. Small urban open spaces are critical components of high-density environments, and could bring multiple health benefits. However, the factors related to restorative effect these small not well studied. This study explored how site type (lawn, water, plaza) spatial scales (10 × 10 m, 20 30 40 m) might be associated with space’s effects. We created virtual scene images 12 sites used PRS-11 measure 1130 participants’ perceived restoration when viewing those images. The results indicated that lawn has highest effects, most preferred. No significant differences in effects different were detected, even a m considerable found high preference contributes larger lawns plazas. Those who prefer may gain more increases scenes compared plaza scenes. Moreover, adults over 50 years old have higher restorations, young aged 18–25 greater increase between natural scenes, indicating benefit from building green spaces. These findings direct implications for design practice. More water should built provide benefits, especially people.
