Background: Transgender, nonbinary, gender-expansive (TNGE) Black, Indigenous, and Other People of Color (BIPOC) have one the highest rates suicidal ideation suicide attempts. As recommended by cultural framework suicide, examining culturally relevant lay beliefs attitudes, such as community perspectives on where originates, is integral for prevention. Doing so may aide in identifying avenues support TNGE BIPOC with chronic ideation. Aims: This study aimed to examine how members perceive etiological foundation Method: Short-answer responses were collected from 110 participants a national cross-sectional survey within United States. Data analyzed utilizing directed content analysis approach thematically categorize factors. Result: Participants described four major areas regarding perceived etiology thoughts including: (1) trauma stress; (2) societal expectations; (3) biological factors; (4) structural oppression. The most salient factor was oppression which endorsed 60% sample. Conclusions: Results suggest that experiences should be incorporated assessing clients’ about prevention, given its relative saliency this Further research needed adequately understand cumulative stress social-cultural expectations impact development among BIPOC.
