Regulation of synaptic mitochondria by extracellular vesicles and its implications for neuronal metabolism and synaptic plasticity

Mitochondrial
metabolism
in
neurons
is
necessary
for
energetically
costly
processes
like
synaptic
transmission
and
plasticity.
As
post-mitotic
cells,
are
therefore
faced
with
the
challenge
of
maintaining
healthy
functioning
mitochondria
throughout
lifetime.
The
precise
mechanisms
mitochondrial
maintenance
neurons,
particularly
morphologically
complex
dendrites
axons,
not
fully
understood.
Evidence
from
several
biological
systems
suggests
regulation
cellular
by
extracellular
vesicles
(EVs),
secretory
lipid-enclosed
that
have
emerged
as
important
mediators
cell
communication.
In
nervous
system,
neuronal
glial
EVs
were
shown
to
regulate
circuit
development
function,
at
least
part
via
transfer
protein
RNA
cargo.
Interestingly,
been
implicated
diseases
characterized
altered
metabolism,
such
cancer
neurodegenerative
diseases.
Furthermore,
system
contain
proteins
related
metabolic
processes,
even
intact
mitochondria.
Here,
we
present
current
knowledge
underlying
maintenance,
highlight
recent
evidence
suggesting
EVs.
We
further
discuss
potential
implications
EV-mediated
function

(EVs)

nanoscale
released
by
cells,
which
play
an
important
role
in
intercellular
communication
transporting
proteins,
lipids,
nucleic
acids,
and
other
molecules.
Different
intensities
of
exercise
can
induce
the
release
EVs
from
cells
tissues,
such
as
endothelial
skeletal
muscle
adipose
tissue,
hepatocytes,
immune
neuronal
cells.
Exercise-induced
exert
cardiovascular
protective
effects
anti-inflammatory
anti-oxidative
altering
their
contents.
This
paper
reviews
cell
tissue
sources
induced
different
intensities,
regulatory
on
EVs,
mechanisms
action
diseases.
The
aim
is
to
provide
new
insights
for
treatment
diseases
offer
scientific
evidence
construction
engineered
mimicking
exercise.
