Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nanoscale released by cells, which play an important role in intercellular communication transporting proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and other molecules. Different intensities of exercise can induce the release EVs from cells tissues, such as endothelial skeletal muscle adipose tissue, hepatocytes, immune neuronal cells. Exercise-induced exert cardiovascular protective effects anti-inflammatory anti-oxidative altering their contents. This paper reviews cell tissue sources induced different intensities, regulatory on EVs, mechanisms action diseases. The aim is to provide new insights for treatment diseases offer scientific evidence construction engineered mimicking exercise.

Mitochondrial metabolism in neurons is necessary for energetically costly processes like synaptic transmission and plasticity. As post-mitotic cells, are therefore faced with the challenge of maintaining healthy functioning mitochondria throughout lifetime. The precise mechanisms mitochondrial maintenance neurons, particularly morphologically complex dendrites axons, not fully understood. Evidence from several biological systems suggests regulation cellular by extracellular vesicles (EVs), secretory lipid-enclosed that have emerged as important mediators cell communication. In nervous system, neuronal glial EVs were shown to regulate circuit development function, at least part via transfer protein RNA cargo. Interestingly, been implicated diseases characterized altered metabolism, such cancer neurodegenerative diseases. Furthermore, system contain proteins related metabolic processes, even intact mitochondria. Here, we present current knowledge underlying maintenance, highlight recent evidence suggesting EVs. We further discuss potential implications EV-mediated function

Extracellular vesicles are known for intercellular signaling roles but can also serve to simply dispose of unwanted cargoes. In this issue, Bostelman and Broihier discuss new work from Rodal colleagues (https://doi.org/10.1083/jcb.202405025) that refutes prior by showing extracellular at Drosophila neuromuscular junctions not required instead likely a proteostasis role.
