Evaluating 21st-Century Skills in English Language Teaching (ELT) in Surigao Del Norte, Philippines: A Needs Assessment for Teachers Development

This
study
examined
the
21st-century
teaching
skills
of
English
language
teachers
(ELTs,
n=117)
and
observations
school
heads
(n=26)
in
Surigao
del
Norte
division
(Philippines)
for
2023-2024
year.
Teachers'
profiles
their
self-perceptions
critical
thinking,
problem-solving,
communication,
creativity,
digital
literacy,
global
awareness
were
assessed
through
surveys.
Descriptive
statistics
non-parametric
tests
employed
to
analyze
data
compare
perceptions
between
ELTs
heads.
While
findings
revealed
a
generally
strong
foundation
among
ELTs,
specific
need
targeted
support
literacy
was
identified.
Additionally,
discrepancies
found
teachers'
self-reported
how
observed
them
being
applied
classroom.
These
highlight
importance
triangulation
evaluating
effectiveness.
The
proposes
recommendations
that
focus
on
professional
development,
resource
allocation,
collaborative
learning
communities,
feedback
mechanisms
create
an
environment
empowers
effectively
integrate
into
classrooms,
ultimately
preparing
students
success
today's
world.

Penguasaan
teknologi
informasi
menjadi
salah
satu
keterampilan
penting
di
era
digital,
namun
siswa
SMA
Barunawati
menghadapi
tantangan
dalam
literasi
khususnya
pengolahan
dan
visualisasi
data
menggunakan
Microsoft
Excel.
Kegiatan
pengabdian
ini
bertujuan
untuk
meningkatkan
digital
melalui
workshop
interaktif
yang
terdiri
dari
sesi
pemberian
materi
praktek
langsung.
Sebanyak
20
mengikuti
kegiatan
ini,
dimulai
dengan
pre-test
mengukur
pemahaman
awal
mereka.
Hasil
menunjukkan
peningkatan
signifikan
pada
post-test,
persentase
jawaban
benar
naik
54%
79%.
Selain
itu,
mayoritas
peserta
menilai
sangat
bermanfaat,
kepercayaan
diri
mereka
Excel
meningkat.
Pelatihan
efektif
membekali
teknis
analitis
relevan,
serta
memberikan
dasar
kuat
mendukung
akademik
Program
dapat
model
serupa
institusi
pendidikan
lainnya.
