Acute ischemic stroke is a serious life-threatening disease that affects almost 600 million people each year throughout the world with mortality of more than 10%, while two-thirds survivors remain disabled. However, available treatments for are still limited to thrombolysis and/or mechanical thrombectomy, and there an urgent need developing new therapeutic target. Recently, intravascular oxidative stress, derived from endothelial cells, platelets, leukocytes, has been found be tightly associated stroke-related thrombosis. It not only promotes primary thrombus formation by damaging cells platelets but also maturation stability modifying fibrin components. Thus, stress expected novel target prevention treatment stroke. In this review, we first discuss mechanisms which thrombosis, then summarize biomarkers finally put forward antithrombotic therapy targeting in

Assays of total antioxidant capacity (TAC) are popular in the analysis food products. This review presents most assays TAC and their limitations, databases products, application clinical studies, effect processing on food. The importance sample preparation for striking effects digestion gastrointestinal tract discussed. Critical opinions validity considered. It is concluded that methods can be useful as screening quality control low-cost, high-throughput tools used to discover potential sources follow changes content antioxidants during processing. However, revealed by should followed explained using more specific methods.

Carotenoids are isoprenoid-derived natural products produced in plants, algae, fungi, and photosynthetic bacteria. Most animals cannot synthesize carotenoids because the biosynthetic machinery to create de novo is absent animals, except arthropods. biosynthesized from two C20 geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate (GGPP) molecules made isopentenyl (IPP) dimethylallyl (DMAPP) via methylerythritol 4-phosphate (MEP) route. can be extracted by a variety of methods, including maceration, Soxhlet extraction, supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), microwave-assisted (MAE), accelerated solvent (ASE), ultrasound-assisted (UAE), pulsed electric field (PEF)-assisted enzyme-assisted (EAE). have been reported exert various biochemical actions, inhibition Akt/mTOR, Bcl-2, SAPK/JNK, JAK/STAT, MAPK, Nrf2/Keap1, NF-κB signaling pathways ability increase cholesterol efflux HDL. absorbed intestine. A handful carotenoid-based compounds clinical trials, while some currently used as medicines. The application metabolic engineering techniques for carotenoid production, whole-genome sequencing, use plants cell factories produce specialty presents promising future research. In this review, we discussed biosynthesis carotenoids, roles human health, metabolism source drugs supplements.

The potential beneficial effect of individual antioxidants on mortality has been reported. However, the association overall intakes dietary with all-cause and cause-specific among adults diabetes remained unclear.A total 4,699 US were enrolled in 2003-2014 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) followed for until 31 December 2015. Dietary Antioxidant Quality Score (DAQS) Index (DAI), which indicate antioxidant properties, calculated based vitamins A, C, E, zinc, selenium, magnesium. Cox proportional hazards regression models used to investigate associations DAQS or DAI mortality.A 913 deaths occurred during 27,735 person-years follow-up, including 215 due cardiovascular disease (CVD) 173 cancer. higher magnesium, selenium associated lower mortality. adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) (95% CIs) comparing highest (5-6) lowest (0-2) 0.70 (0.53-0.92) mortality, 0.56 (0.35-0.90) CVD 0.59 (0.33-1.04) cancer Consistent inverse found between mortality.Higher intake was risk death from diabetes. Future intervention studies are needed determine whether increasing micronutrients could prevent premature

The relationship between composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI) levels and the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) in postmenopausal women is unknown. In total, 3109 from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey 2013-2018 were included this cross-sectional study. We evaluated association CDAI ASCVD by using three logistic regression models restricted cubic splines. A stratified analysis sensitivity also conducted. splines exhibited an L-shaped dose-response risk. Logistic found that negatively associated with occurrence ASCVD. ORs a per-SD increase 0.67 (95% CI: 0.51-0.88) for Similarly, group high less likely to have (OR = 0.71, 95% 0.50-0.98) compared those low levels. When divided into quartiles, it was Q2 (-1.04-1.11), Q3 (1.11-3.72), Q4 (3.72-43.87) 0.63 (0.44, 0.90), 0.64 (0.42, 0.94), 0.51 (0.27, 0.97), respectively, Q1 (-6.83--1.04). addition, age, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, smoking behaviors acted as potential modifiers, more significant aged 40-69 years, individuals smokers (p interaction <0.05). These findings may offer valuable insights role development among women.
