Burnout among South African nurses during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic: a holistic investigation

The
wellbeing
of
health
care
workers
(HCWs)
has
been
an
ongoing
challenge,
especially
within
low
and
middle-income
countries
(LMICs)
such
as
South
Africa.
Evidence
suggesting
that
HCWs
are
increasingly
stressed
burned
out
is
cause
for
concern.
Nurses
in
particular
have
impacted
physically,
mentally
psychosocially
during
the
recent
COVID-19
pandemic.
This
may
leave
a
disproportionate
consequence,
affecting
various
aspects
their
wellbeing,
thereby
justifying
need
more
holistic
investigation

Abstract
Aims

Abstract
Alcohol

global
burden
of
disease,
accounting
for

million
deaths
each
year
globally.

a

experiencing

mental
health
problems,

alcohol
use
disorders.
