Introduction Mayaro Fever (MF) is a tropical disease caused by the virus (MAYV), with outbreaks documented in Latin America. Methods A hospital-based fever surveillance Leticia, Colombian Amazon, collected sera from 1,460 patients aged 5-89 between December 2020 and April 2023. Results Dengue malaria were main diagnoses (19.4 5.8%, respectively), leaving 71.4% of cases unidentified after testing. Metagenomic sequencing real-time RT-qPCR testing identified MAYV two (25-year-old male an 80-year-old female) exhibiting typical symptoms, MF including rash, joint pain, fever. Phylogenetics analysis these viruses revealed close relationship to Peruvian strains within D genotype. Discussion The study AFI Colombia, dengue as prevalent, malaria, COVID-19, Influenza, Zika also detected. Despite extensive testing, most remained unexplained until metagenomic MAYV, previously unseen Colombia but known neighboring countries. Conclusion This presents first near full-length genomes highlighting need for further seroprevalence studies enhanced understand control spread region.

Malaria remains a major global health challenge. Although effective control relies on testing all suspected cases, asymptomatic infections in school-age children are frequently overlooked. Advances retinal imaging and computer vision have enhanced malaria detection. However, noninvasive, point-of-care detection unrealized, partly because of the need for specialized equipment. Here we report radiomic analyses 4302 photographs palpebral conjunctiva captured using unmodified smartphone cameras from 405 participants aged 5 to 15 years predict risk. Our neural network classification model features achieves an area under receiver operating characteristic curve 0.76 with 95% confidence intervals 0.68 0.84 distinguishing between malaria-infected non-infected cases endemic regions. Photographing inner eyelid provides advantages easy accessibility direct exposure microvasculature. This mobile approach has potential prescreening managing febrile illness resource-limited settings.
