Abstract Background and Objectives Social sustainability becomes increasingly important in aging populations. Yet, scientific discussions on this topic are still emerging. This study helps to develop these by exploring (1) how social is understood studies populations, (2) understanding differs across the topics discussed, (3) population connected sustainability. Research Design Methods conducts a systematic literature review using 33 texts obtained from ProQuest, JStor, scholar.google.com (02–03/2022). The inclusion criteria were character explicit focus of interest. A thematic analysis was conducted. Results use 3 different understandings sustainability: one focusing what makes societies desirable, quality life individuals, balancing interests current future generations. first most prevalent. Discussion Implications Findings provide clearer more homogenous aging. Thereby, they facilitate dialogue between researchers working area. Participation of older workers in the labor market depends, among other things, on employment chances. This study examines age differences regarding risk unemployment and reemployment outcomes late working life Sweden. Using Swedish registry data, we analyzed probability as well work-related activity following (wage- or self-employment; exit; downward mobility) all people born between 1954 1968 (aged 49–63) registered Sweden years 2012 2018. Results show that although does not differ significantly across groups, younger groups are more likely to be reemployed wage-employed while self-employed exit life. After an period, employees have a lower wage than during their previous become part-time unemployed. We conclude different unequal chances terms reemployment, exit, mobility unemployment. Policies for extending promoting inequality should include measures increasing employability such anti-discriminatory laws dealing with skills mismatch.
