Abstract Background and Objectives Nursing home (NH) staff job dissatisfaction turnover are associated with lower care quality. However, little is known about the impact of being single on workplace experiences. Guided by Job Demands-Control-Support Model, we compared satisfaction, intention, psychological distress for partnered parents working in NHs. Research Design Methods Employee manager data from 2011 to 2012 wave Work Family Health Network study were combined (N = 1,144) define complete 586). Bivariate tests multivariate regressions clustering observations within NHs used. Results Most (n 190, 32%) nursing assistants (NAs; n 142, 74.74%) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs; 29, 15.26%). Compared parents, similar intention but they more likely report (OR 1.79, 95% CI 1.09, 2.94) observed only among NAs 2.08, 1.12, 3.85). Selected underwent concurrent independent thematic content analyses. Central themes categories extracted merged, forming key domains that framed discussion. Results Of 5676 titles abstracts screened, 543 full-text reviewed. 20 analysed inclusion. Four emerged: (1) motivations practice care; (2) impact personhood (3) challenges faced HCPs; (4) support systems HCPs. Conclusion Providing patients fulfilling HCPs—fostering meaningful professional relationships patients, more holistic perspective life heightened sense personal accomplishment. may encounter dissonance amidst conflicts their dominant beliefs new experiences, leading burnout, poor delivery are further exacerbated caring, if inadequately addressed. Longitudinal accessible personalised organisational sustaining HCPs’ capacity deliver compassionate high-quality use Ring Theory Personhood framework provides an avenue structuring such systems.
