To examine whether adolescent sport and exercise participation is associated with adulthood moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA), body fat, skeletal muscle mass, mass index (BMI), to explore the association between adult composition depends on MVPA level. Prospective study of 4603 adolescents aged 13-18 year (57.2% female) in Norwegian Young-HUNT Study follow-up ~ 11 or 22 years later. Linear regression was used estimate mean differences accelerometer-measured bioimpedance-measured BMI according self-reported adolescence. Adolescents participating sport/exercise every day accumulated more (48 min/week, 95% CI 23 73), had less fat (-4.4%, -5.4 -3.2), (2.6%, 2.0 3.2), lower (-1.1 kg/m2, -1.7 -0.5) as adults, compared < 1 day/week. Joint analysis showed that who participated ≥ 4 days/week, 150-299 min/week adulthood, (-5.8%, -7.4 -4.3) (3.4%, CI, 2.5 4.3) those ≤ day/week 150 adults. Compared same reference group, these associations were further strengthened among 300 reported days/week for both (-8.8%, -10.3 -7.4) (5.1%, 4.3 5.9). Adolescent positively MVPA, inversely adulthood. These remained significant after adjusting levels. A higher level strengthens composition.

Background Adolescent mental health challenges are on the rise globally, and Norway is no exception. Wildlife activities (WAs) have been increasingly promoted as a potential measure to improve adolescent well-being. However, there limited research extent of participation in these its association with distress among Norwegian adolescents. Aim This study has twofold aim: explore degree WAs examine between this distress. Methods The design was cross-sectional, using Young-HUNT data from collected 2017 2019. A total 6,361 participants were included final sample. Participants categorized based their level WAs, ordinal regression analysis conducted assess factors associated wildlife activity. Furthermore, multivariate linear assessed activity Results majority reported low levels (34.6%) or medium (53.2%) engagement WAs. Adjusted analyses showed that higher range factors, particularly female sex, having both parents born Norway, maintaining high physical weak yet statistically significant relationship identified increased participants. Conclusion Various sociodemographic, lifestyle, social influence involvement observed but raises questions about assumption nature universally beneficial for health. These results highlight need further underlying mechanisms relationship. findings also caution policymakers against making generalized claims benefits without deeper consideration individual contextual factors.
