The presence of mitochondrial sequences in the nuclear genome (Numts) confounds analyses sequence variation, and is a potential source false positives disease studies. To improve analysis variation canines, we completed systematic assessment Numt content across assemblies, canine populations carnivore lineage.

Abstract Canines are an important model system for genetics and evolution. Recent advances in sequencing technologies have enabled the creation of large databases genetic variation canines, but analysis allele sharing among canine groups has been limited. We applied GeoVar, approach originally developed to study single nucleotide polymorphisms across human populations, assess wolves, village dogs, breed dogs. Our shows that wolves differ from each other at average approximately 2.3 million sites while dogs same nearly 1 sites. find 22% variants common ∼16% variable half differences between two different breeds due all clades. These analyses represent a succinct summary canines illustrate effects history on apportionment variation.
