Photocatalytic nitrogen reduction is a promising green technology for ammonia synthesis under mild conditions. However, the poor charge transfer efficiency and weak N2 adsorption/activation capability severely hamper production efficiency. In this work, heteropoly blue (r-PW12) nanoparticles are loaded on surface of ultrathin BiOCl nanosheets with oxygen vacancies (BiOCl-OVs) by electrostatic self-assembly method, preparing series xr-PW12/BiOCl-OVs heterojunction composites. Acting as robust support, 2D structure BiOCl-OVs inhibits aggregation r-PW12 NPs, enhancing interfacial contact between BiOCl. More importantly, existence OVs provides abundant active sites efficient adsorption activation. combination enhanced light absorption promoted photogenerated carriers separation heterojunction, simulated solar light, optimal 7r-PW12/BiOCl-OVs exhibits an excellent photocatalytic fixation rate 33.53 µmol g-1 h-1 in pure water, without need sacrificial agents co-catalysts. The reaction dynamics also monitored situ FT-IR, associative distal pathway identified. Our study demonstrates that construction blues-based strategy developing high-performance photocatalysts. It anticipated combining different defects blues structures might provide more possibilities designing high photocatalysis systems.
