The Ocular Pain Assessment Survey (OPAS) has been used to quantify chronic ocular pain and quality of life (QOL). We aim investigate the psychometric properties individual OPAS items with Rasch analysis in an Asian population dry eye disease neuropathic corneal (NCP). Question responses were obtained from 196 patients; 138 (DED) 58 NCP, at Singapore National Eye Centre. Item hierarchy, item fit statistics, separation, reliability indices, Yen's Q3 values calculated. Individual dimensions that levels past 24 hours QOL showed good discriminative ability according their person separation index values. However, measured 2 weeks, non-eye pain, as well aggravating associated factors suboptimal Significant correlations found between pairs dimension some dimensions. Two questionnaire validated analysis. Based on these findings, we shorten number questions improve performance tool similar populations. Our study provides insights existing for real-world clinical applications trials.

Background/aims To identify the risk factors for neuropathic corneal pain (NCP) following refractive surgery and to report its clinical manifestations, imaging proteomic characteristics. Methods This 1 year prospective cohort study included 100 eyes that underwent small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) or laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). Ocular surface assessments, in-vivo confocal microscopy scans, tear neuromediators proteomics analyses were performed. NCP was assessed using ocular assessment survey. Univariate multivariate conducted associated with postoperative NCP. Results The incidence of 13.3% 10.5% after SMILE LASIK, respectively (p=0.70). In SMILE, preoperative manifest spherical equivalent (MRSE) power (both p=0.02) significantly higher compared non-NCP group. had a lower nerve fibre length (CNFL) (p=0.02), fractal dimension (p=0.003), width (p=0.04) larger neuroma area than eyes. MRSE significant factor (95% CI: 0.48—1.96, p=0.04). An greater −8.0 diopter 9.57 times more likely develop (OR=9.57, p=0.002). density CI:0.13—1.11, p=0.05) CNFL CI:0.09—1.25, Significant increases growth factor, calcitonin gene-related peptide, Frizzled class receptor 7 nucleoside-diphosphate kinase three observed Conclusions reported characteristics would patients susceptible surgery.
