Background: A growing body of evidence indicates the regulating effects alpha-lipoic acid on iron metabolism. However, findings from clinical trials are equivocal. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate quantitative effect alpha lipoic (ALA) supplementation metabolism parameters including serum iron, total binding capacity, hemoglobin, ferritin. Methodology: Online databases, PubMed, Scopus, Web Science were searched, up 29 May 2022, obtain all relevant studies. Results: 1901 publications identified in search; which, 10 studies with a 529 participants included this meta-analysis. Pooled analysis showed no statistically significant ALA ferritin (weighted mean difference (WMD) = –11.01 ng/mL; 95% CI: –40.07, 18.05 I2 0.0%, p 0.670), (WMD –0.47 μ/dL; –24.48, 23.54 94.7%, < 0.001), hemoglobin 0.49 g/dL; –0.54, 1.52 95.7%, capacity (TIBC) 3.95 –21.3, 29.2 53.1%, 0.094). In subgroup analysis, significantly increased patients hematological disorders 1.23 1.00, 1.45 96.6%, 0.001) durations longer than 8 weeks 1.03 0.82, 1.25 96.5%, 0.02). ABSTRACT Objective Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is one of the most common complications during pregnancy. There inconsistency between previous studies regarding blood and inflammatory parameters levels among pregnant women its association with GDM. This study aimed to investigate relationship in relation Methods Systematic literature searches were carried out through databases like PubMed, Web Science, Epistemonikos, Scopus, Scientific Information Database Magiran till May 2024. Meta‐analysis showed that compared control group, GDM had significantly higher haemoglobin (0.343 [95% CI 0.134–0.553] p = 0.01, sensitivity analysis: 0.174 0.0343–0.315] 0.01), red cell (0.387 0.224–0.550] < 0.001), platelet volume (0.498 0.165–0.831] 0.003), white count (0.351 0.0882–0.615] 0.009) neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (0.534 0.127–0.941] 0.01). However, lower corpuscular concentration (−0.249 −0.386–−0.112] 0.001). Pooled results from MPV no adjusted (adjusted OR 1.33 0.8–1.86] I 2 57.2%). The Glucose Management Indicator (GMI) is a biomarker of glycemic control which estimates hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) based on the average glycemia recorded by continuous glucose monitoring sensors (CGMS). GMI provides an immediate overview patient’s control, but it might be biased sensor wear adherence or sensor’s reading errors. This study aims to evaluate GMI’s performance in assessment and identify factors leading erroneous estimates. In this study, 147 patients with type 1 diabetes, users CGMS, were enrolled. Their was extracted from report HbA1c measured at certified laboratories. median value overestimated 0.1 percentage points (p = 0.007). measurements had good reliability, demonstrated Cronbach’s alpha index 0.74, inter-item correlation coefficient 0.683 covariance between 0.813. difference reversely associated (Spearman’s r −0.707; p < 0.001). reliable tool evaluating diabetes. It tends underestimate high values, while overestimate low HbA1c.

Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) remains a major cause of mortality and long-term disability worldwide, driven by complex multifaceted etiological factors. Metabolic dysregulation, gastrointestinal microbiome alterations, systemic inflammation are emerging as significant contributors to AIS pathogenesis. This review addresses the critical need understand how these factors interact influence risk outcomes. We aim elucidate roles dysregulated adipokines in obesity, impact gut microbiota disruptions, neuroinflammatory cascade initiated lipopolysaccharides (LPS) AIS.
