In 2020, midway through the Collaborative Improvement and Innovation Network to Advance Care for Children with Medical Complexity project, coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic erupted caused significant disruptions 10 participating state teams, project leadership, collaborative partner organizations. Clinics shut down in-person care, a scramble ensued quickly leverage telehealth fill gap, trauma by anxiety, isolation, exhaustion affected health wellbeing of children, families, clinicians alike. We conducted series key informant interviews surveys, alongside other process measures, learn from teams what it was like “on ground” try continue improving care delivery, child quality life, family under such upheaval. this article, we synthesize qualitative descriptive findings these varied data sources within framework trauma-informed principles applied as leadership team prevent burnout, increase resilience, maintain progress among all participants, especially uniquely vulnerable leaders. Lessons learned will be offered that can future natural human-made emergencies impact responsive pediatric delivery improvement.

Trauma-informed care (TIC) is a framework that recognizes the pervasive impact of trauma, aiming to enhance both patient outcomes and provider well-being. Given high prevalence trauma among individuals seeking healthcare, it essential for healthcare providers (HCPs) be informed. However, standardized TIC curricula training staff are lacking. This study assessed perceptions towards multidisciplinary HCPs, patients, leadership at two urban hospitals in Canada. mixed-methods prospective cross-sectional employed Kern's six-step approach curriculum development. A needs assessment was conducted via an online questionnaire HCPs semi-structed interviews with from three participant groups: staff. The knowledge, skills, attitudes regarding TIC. Semi-structured explored perspectives on TIC, including priorities potential implementation barriers. Findings informed development virtual curriculum, iterative feedback collected refine assess its acceptability. Among 106 HCP respondents Medical Doctors, Social Workers Registered Nurses, 96 (90.6%) identified as women, 97 (91.5%) direct care. Despite 93 (87.7%) having prior education, 77 (72.6%) reported low confidence applying knowledge clinical practice. Research has highlighted psychological distress resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare workers (HCWs), including development of posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS). However, degree to which these conditions have endured beyond and extent they affect entire team, both clinical nonclinical workers, remain unknown. This study aims identify correlates PTSS in workforce with goal providing evidence support trauma-informed leadership strategies.Data were collected June July 2022 using a cross-sectional anonymous survey large academic medical center setting. A total 6,466 employees completed (27.3% response rate). As HIV/AIDS health care workers (HCWs) deliver services during COVID-19 under difficult conditions, practicing trauma-informed (TIC) may mitigate negative effects on mental and well-being. H.E.R.O. (Helping Essential workers Reclaim roles Online) Unmasking was a virtual drama therapy protocol designed to support frontline healthcare (re)connect part of their humanity overshadowed by the role Healthcare Hero during COVID-19 pandemic.
