Plastic pollution and ongoing climatic changes exert considerable pressure on coastal ecosystems. Unravelling the combined effects of these two threats is essential to management conservation actions reduce overall environmental risks. We assessed capacity a ecosystem engineer, blue mussel Mytilus edulis , cope with various levels aerial heat stress (20, 25, 30 35°C) after an exposure substances leached from beached virgin low-density polyethylene pellets. ABSTRACT Aggregation behaviour is a key process shared by numerous organisms, providing benefits such as predator protection, resistance to abiotic stressors and enhancing reproductive success. In coastal waters, mussel aggregations shape ecosystems increase biodiversity; however, many aspects of this ecologically remain unexplored. Here, we investigated the potential link between aggregation rate maturity stages in blue Mytilus edulis over seasonal cycle. We showed that seasonality M. was significant sinusoidal function mean stage.
