Sensing and feeling: an overview

Emotional experiences are driven, in part, by the way we process and integrate information from different sensory modalities. Understanding how perceptual emotional systems interact to give rise subjective feelings is an important, complex challenging issue, requiring new approaches integrative thinking that fuses fundamentals of low-level perception with higher-level cognitive affective processes. The Theme Issue ‘Sensing feeling: approach processing experience’ showcases fifteen theoretical, empirical, review articles experts working at intersection emotion, encompassing multiple (visual, auditory, tactile interoceptive), clinical non-clinical perspectives (e.g. disorders hearing loss), contextual social perspectives, special populations. Articles Part 1 emphasize recent advances across fields emotion science insights into future directions. Each article 2 provides more detailed specific methodological or theoretical models, focuses on basic mechanisms linking sensation experience. This part theme issue experience’.
