A
bstract
Memories
are
thought
to
use
coding
schemes
that
dynamically
adjust
their
representational
structure
maximize
both
persistence
and
utility.
However,
the
nature
of
these
scheme
adjustments
impact
on
temporal
evolution
memory
after
initial
encoding
is
unclear.
Here
we
introduce
Segregation-to-Integration
Transformation
(SIT)
Model,
a
neural
network
formalization
offers
unified
account
how
transformed
over
time.
SIT
Model
asserts
memories
initially
adopt
highly
modular
or
segregated
structure,
functioning
as
an
optimal
storage
buffer
by
striking
balance
between
protection
from
disruptions
accommodating
substantial
information.
Over
time,
repeated
combination
reactivations,
spreading,
synaptic
plasticity
transforms
into
integrated
form,
facilitating
intercommunity
spreading
fostering
generalization.
In
addition,
reveals
existence
window
during
this
transformation
where
most
susceptible
malleability,
suggesting
non-linear
inverted
U-shaped
function
in
evolution.
The
results
our
model
integrate
wide
range
experimental
phenomena
along
with
accounts
