Purpose Employability is an established research theme in Western literature; however, developing economies, the concept remains unclear and underresearched. This study addresses this lacuna by exploring how Sri Lankan higher education (HE) administrators conceptualise employability which capitals they perceive as needing development to achieve employability. Design/methodology/approach The utilised semi-structured interviews with expert panel responsible for leading of employment agenda within HE. purposive sample included four vice chancellors (VCs), representing leadership at 27% country’s publicly funded universities HE funding commission. qualitative data collected were thematically analysed identify was conceptualised perceived skills required. Findings findings demonstrated that requiring transferable job-specific occupational skills. view represents a narrow definition emphasis on skill rather than longer-term capability building. results show applicability Bourdieu’s (1986) context, cultural social capital proficiency English language critical meeting objectives. In the contemporary educational landscape, there is a growing recognition of transformative impact practical experiences within traditional learning frameworks. Purpose This study aims to identify the key factors contributing mental health issues among home-quarantined university students in Bangladesh during COVID-19 pandemic and analyze how these affect their psychological well-being. Design/methodology/approach adopted a positivist paradigm used cross-sectional design. Data were collected from 480 public using snowball sampling technique. A 22-item standardized questionnaire was administered through Google Form, with responses gathered on four-point Likert scale. SPSS v. 25 SmartPLS 3.0 for data analysis. Findings The results indicate that stagnation educational system (SES), social interaction communication changes (SICC), economic crisis (EC) infrastructural technological insufficiency (ITI) significantly impact students’ (MDS). All four hypotheses showed p -values below 0.05, beta values of 0.183, 0.181, 0.242 0.262, respectively. coefficient determination ( R² ) 0.420, demonstrating substantial collective health. Originality/value offers valuable information about affected suggests ways reduce stress similar situations.
